2018 marks the 27th anniversary of the 16 Days Against Violence Campaign, initiated in 1991 and coordinated by the Women's Global Leadership Center.
More than 5,000 organizations, governments, UN agencies and countless people from more than 180 countries around the world are taking part in this year's action.
In Uzbekistan, large-scale work is being carried out to ensure the rights of citizens to freedom and personal integrity, to increase the socio-political and social activity of women, to create conditions for their self-realization in various spheres and industries, to ensure the unconditional observance of the rights and legitimate interests of women, to comprehensively support motherhood and childhood, as well as strengthening the institution of the family.
The RC SED "SABR" annually, since 2002, has been conducting a media campaign "16 days against violence" thereby contributing to the prevention of violence and improving the quality of life in families.
Specialists of the Center "SABR" and only within the framework of the media campaigns have consulted 24416 respondents who found themselves in difficult life situations, held more than 100 informational meetings and trainings on this topic. Printed publications have been prepared and published that contribute to the prevention and prevention of offenses against women and children in close cooperation with youth organizations and local self-government bodies. Over the years, 84 participants - winners of the drawing and poster competition were awarded with memorable gifts.
The media campaign of 2018 was held in a special format - with the wide participation of representatives of state authorities. So, at the events of the media campaign - meetings with students of colleges, lyceums, schools, university students, and the population of makhallas (more than 700 people in total), along with the RCSER "SABR", representatives of regional divisions of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, local authorities and Youth Union of Uzbekistan. Also, 4 training seminars were held with the coverage of more than 100 people for school psychologists, mahalla specialists, listeners of Local Development Centers, activists of the Regional Youth Union on the problem of domestic violence.
As part of the action, a drawing competition was announced on the theme: "Peace and tranquility in the house - the well-being of the country!" More than 150 drawings were received from school and college students, where the authors of the drawings tried to reveal the topic of the action from their point of view.
On December 4, 2018, several final events of the media campaign will take place in the Concert Hall of the city of Samarkand:
- a charity concert of the city's creative youth, as well as professional pop artists;
- organized a quiz on legal issues of preventing violence against women and children;
- organized an exhibition of the best works of the participants of the drawing competition "Peace and tranquility in the house - the well-being of the country";
- the names of the winners of the competition were announced and gifts and incentive prizes were presented. All participants of the action will be given calendars with drawings of the winners of the competition.
