Opportunity to start a business for women of Akdarya On June 23, 2022 at the Rural Information and Resource Center (RIRC) "Choykhana" in Akdarya district of Samarkand region, 20 women received computers, sewing machines, gas stoves and equipment for confe

By this time, 342 low-income women and youth of Akdarya district have acquired professional skills by taking short-term courses in 6 areas: sewing, confectionery, hairdressing, national craft, computer literacy, manicure and pedicure. The uniqueness of these courses is that graduates had possibility to present business-plans for opening small business and obtain business-grants up to 3 million sums under the project terms. As of today, total value of start-up grants received by 68 women and youth has reached 158,000,000 sums.
RIRC “Choykhona” in Akdarya district also provides social services to all mahalla residents and by today, more than 300 women and youth have taken full advantage of this opportunity. These consultations have contributed to the social support of women and youth to improve their skills in line with the goals and objectives of EU funded project. 
Goals and objectives of RIRC “Choykhona” in Akdarya district are as following:
- 342 women and youth of Akdarya took short-term (acceleration) courses conducted at RIRC “Choykhona”; 
- 68 women and young persons received start-up grants on a competitive basis up to 
158 000 000 sums to start their own businesses and small entrepreneurship.
- About 300 local residents received consultations of doctors, lawyers, psychologists.
In rural areas, all the employment opportunities for vulnerable women were provided to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our country within the framework of the project financed by the European Union.
