On November 28, the final forum of the project «Promoting Gender Transformative Territories/Communities through Civil Participation» was held in Tashkent. The project is being implemented by the DVV Branch in Uzbekistan and the "SABR" National Center for Socio-Economic Development in collaboration with local partners. The purpose of the forum: create an open platform for sharing experiences, analyzing achievements, and discussing possible steps to scale up the model gender-transformative community model in Uzbekistan at the local and national levels. More than 60 representatives of government agencies and non-governmental organizations, pilot mahallas, local media, national and international experts, and partners working in the field of gender equality discussed the project's results, shared experiences, exchanged expert opinions, and established partnerships. The forum featured success stories from project participants, the results of a study conducted by a local expert, and a practical handbook to creating gender-transformative communities. The DVV branch in Uzbekistan and the the NCSED «SABR» express their deep gratitude to the donors, government agencies, all partners, local and national media who supported the project! The main question of the forum was: “What comes next? What steps are needed to ensure the sustainability of the project?” The answer was: “Sustainable gender equality requires collective action. Government agencies, NGOs, and local communities should continue to collaborate by integrating gender-sensitive governance and approaches into local development strategies, while supporting local initiatives”.
