On January 8 in Gulistan (Syrdarya region) and on January 22–23, 2026, in Andijan, monitoring visits were conducted at the Local Development Centers of NCSED "SABR". These visits, along with round table discussions, were held within the framework of the project "Promoting Gender Transformations in Regions through Civil Society Participation," which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Representatives of the DVV International branch in Uzbekistan, in cooperation with NCSED "SABR", met with project stakeholders to discuss the theme: "Gender Transformations in Communities: Presentation of Project Results, External Research Findings, and Discussion of Cooperation Prospects."
The project is aimed at supporting low-income populations and stimulating sustainable development at the community level, with a primary focus on gender transformations.
The events were attended by representatives of the "Ishonch" and "Mevazor" mahalla citizens' assemblies (Syrdarya region), as well as "Ijtimoiyat" and "Buston" (Andijan region), alongside vocational course graduates, working group members, and active local residents.
The following items were presented during the round tables:
-
Key project results;
-
Outcomes of the socio-economic and gender analysis;
-
Findings and recommendations from the external research;
-
Practical application of the manual "Step by Step: Towards Communities Focused on Gender Transformations."
Participants actively discussed methods for ensuring the sustainability of achieved results and reaffirmed their readiness to continue implementing gender-responsive approaches.
As part of the monitoring visit, the project team also held meetings with graduates of vocational training courses and recipients of business initiative support in the "Ishonch" and "Mevazor" mahallas of Gulistan. In the "Ijtimoiyat" mahalla of the Andijan region, the team visited a confectionery workshop equipped under the community initiatives support program, where regular free training for low-income residents is planned.
Success stories were shared by women who launched their own businesses after completing their training. The team also met with active project participants, including Rakhimakhon Ermetova, Mukaddam Nazirova (who opened her own sewing atelier), and business initiative awardees Iroda Ruzmatova and Mastura Akhmedova.
We express our sincere gratitude to all participants and partners for their support in the implementation of this project!
