A new initiative has been launched in Uzbekistan to improve the way cases of violence against women are handled.
Implemented by the National Agency for Social Protection and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with financial support from the World Bank, the initiative is part of the “INSON” project.
From 14 to 18 September 2026, a Training of Trainers (ToT) on responding to cases of violence was held in Tashkent. The training brought together psychologists, lawyers, social workers and National Agency for Social Protection specialists, including 'SABR' National Centre for Socio-Economic Development staff members.
During the training, participants strengthened their skills in providing assistance to women affected by violence, risk assessment, safety planning, protection measures, and inter-agency cooperation.
The trained specialists will subsequently conduct training sessions for professionals in all 14 regions of Uzbekistan.
This initiative will help to establish a more coordinated, safe and high-quality support system for women who have experienced violence.
